Exploring The Wire

I’m experimenting with copper wire as part of my studies.

This week began what we call the “Metal Epoch” where us students explore all facets of working with metal and steel.

Due to current circumstances we’re forced to work from home. For the time being we won’t have access to studio space and machines. Thus we’re started to explore pliable wires as an artistic medium. It’s widely available and doesn’t ask too much of your tool box beyond a set of pliers.

Admittedly, I had a rough start, but today I finally found my groove and finished a couple sculptures that I’d like to build off from. These explore copper and brass wire in varying gauges in combination with pieces of wood. Because I just can’t not use wood…
